December 11, 2007: Executive Committee Meeting in Lake George

At the Regular Meeting of the Executive Board of the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages held at the Holiday Inn in the Village of Lake George at 4:00 p.m., there were

 

PRESENT:       J. R. (John) Risley, President, Executive Board Members:  Fred Monroe, Bill Farber, Zandy Gabriels, Jean Raymond, Robert Moore, George Canon, Brian Towers, Dan Belden, Robert Banks, Cathy Moses and invited guests Greg Wallace, Paul Bray: DEC and Barbara Bray.

 

The meeting was opened by President Risley at 4:00 p.m.  The meeting was called to discuss Adirondack issues with Paul Bray, representative from NYSDEC.

 

President Risley welcomed Paul Bray and thanked him for the meeting.  An update on the Smart Growth grants was given noting that the goal was to announce the awards at Local Government Days in March.  The group discussed a variety of topics including hamlets, working forest lands through easements, tourism in the Park, housing, Adirondack Park Agency rules and regulations and its impacts on growth and the APRAP project and its role in providing data for future use.  The Board thanked Mr. Bray for his time and commented on the positive dialogue.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Bray exited the meeting.

 

ELECTIONS

 

It was noted that as of December 31, 2007 the following members of the Executive committee would no longer be in political office:  JR Risley, President, Zandy Gabriels, Jeanne Ashworth and Shirley Seney.  It was also noted that Rick Lucia had resigned.  A discussion was held and Supervisor Farber agreed to fill the position of President until the next annual meeting and elections.  The Board also reviewed and agreed upon the following members to be presented for the other vacant seats: Randy Douglas; Town of Jay, Dan Belden; Town of Hague, Roger Ammel; Town of Tupper Lake, Gregg Wallace; Town of Long Lake and Lee Hollenbeck; Town of Broadalbin.

 

On motion of Zandy Gabriels, seconded by J.R. Risley, the meeting was adjourned at 5:25 p.m.  CARRIED 12 AYES  0 NAYS
